Vogue Bans Young and Sick Models
Although many of us are fans of fashion and enjoy looking through magazines such as Vogue and Cosmopolitan for the latest trends, it is often a surprise to see such young and thin models being used. There has long been a suggestion that some models are unhealthily underweight and that drug use is commonplace in the industry. However, Vogue magazine has recently pledged to stop using models who are under 16 or who are suspected of suffering from any kind of eating disorder. This announcement has been received as a welcome change by many women, especially busty escorts who certainly appreciate a fuller figure.
Vogue is calling this decision a ‘health pact’ which documents six particular points to ensure the wellbeing of models. This proposal actually reproduces almost exactly the same guidelines as decreed by the British Fashion Council and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Fashion magazines however, have often being reluctant to introduce their own code of ethics. Underage models have already been banned from appearing at New York and London fashion weeks and designers encouraged to produce their samples in more ‘normal’ sizes, as opposed to size zero measurements.
